I was born in Michigan, but Paris is my creative birthplace. While working as an engineer in France, I had a chance to explore my mind, my heart and my soul. I realized that I had a hankering to shoot that beautiful city in black and white. I picked up a used Nikon, and I discovered the world looked different through the lens of a camera. That was in 1992, and I’ve been shooting ever since. I’ve studied with some fabulous photographers – Kent Barker, Lois Greenfield, Shelby Adams, Monte Nagler, and Michael Kenna. Each instructor gave me encouragement and helped me develop my own voice.
I learned that I liked interesting, lonely landscapes. I liked photos of people that were unscripted and told a story. I quickly learned that my style with people worked with nature, cars, monuments, and cityscapes. Everything has a soul if you look long enough. Soon, my work appeared on products that were sold around the country. I’ve shot for American Greetings, Farmer Jack, La-Z-Boy, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and the American Cancer Society. I’ve also written stories and shot for magazines and newspapers. Through it all, I’ve used my strengths – blending creativity and strategy to achieve the mutual goals of my clients, and capturing the “essence” of each person or place.
I’m curious, drawn to what’s around the next corner or beyond today’s horizon. The potential and hope of the unexpected inspires me. It’s kind of like taking the back roads – you’re not quite sure where you’re at, but venturing toward the unknown seems to stirs Fate’s kind hand. Suddenly, the most gorgeous shot appears before you. Joy mixes with the blood pounding through your veins, and with the click of the shutter, the destination is captured forever. I love it!
I keep looking, learning, and shooting, guided by my vision and mission:
- Vision: a world where everyone pursues their dreams with excellence, honor, and self-respect, inspiring others along the way.
- Mission: to partner with my clients, capture the spirit and nature of a person in a manner that is enjoyable for them, and have a variety of creative projects.
Private photography sessions begin at $350. Most of the images on my site are available for licensing. If you find something that grabs your eye, please call me at +1 (248) 544–0611.
